  • AnonI sometimes heard this on K-Earth 101 back when I was younger as well as Baby I'm-a Want You and Guitar Man. Mr. Gates' voice was so dulcet and sweet that the song could have been made for his adoring wife. The non-ironic and non-heartbreaking use of "baby", "babe" and "girl" send a sweet message to the intended woman that the song is for. If his wife had heard "Make It With You", she would have had tears of joy spilling down her cheeks and would have been kissing her husband all over his face.

The album cover to "On the Waters" was great photography. The flip side to that 45 was "Why do you keep me waiting". I thought that was a pretty good song too. This album is really a signature album of the (early) seventies with maybe a pinch of late 60's. I have heard the song "I AM that I AM" from the same album on christian radio. That surprised me.
