  • Now I will tell you what I've done for you
    Fifty thousand tears I've cried
Screaming, deceiving and bleeding for you
And you still won't hear me

    (Going under)

Don't want your hand this time, I'll save myself
Maybe I'll wake up for once (wake up for once)
Not tormented, daily defeated by you
Just when I thought I'd reached the bottom

    I'm dying again

    I'm going under (going under)
Drowning in you (drowning in you)
    I'm falling forever (falling forever)
I've got to break through, I'm going under

Blurring and stirring the truth and the lies
    (So I don't know what's real)
    So I don't know what's real and what's not
    (Don't know what's real and what's not)
Always confusing the thoughts in my head (oh)
So I can't trust myself anymore

    I'm dying again

    I'm going under (going under)
Drowning in you (drowning in you)
    I'm falling forever (falling forever)
I've got to break through, I'm

    So go on and scream
Scream at me, I'm so far away (so far away)
I won't be broken again (again)
I've got to breathe, I can't keep going under

    I'm dying again

    I'm going under (going under)
Drowning in you (drowning in you)
    I'm falling forever (falling forever)
I've got to break through, I'm going under (going under)

  • Gina from TexasThis song is about living with a narcissist. You truly love him but he does not love you. He’s incapable. He says what he needs to say to get what he wants. What he needs or wants is power or control. Because that makes him feel big. Because really, he feels small. He doesn’t care to listen to what you need. It’s all about him. Every now and then he’ll tease you you with his smooth talkin’ (lies) so you’ll stay... so he can keep taking when he needs to, like a vampire. He’s convincing. Damnit. And you believe him. Because YOU really love him. But then he can be so mean. And sometimes you don’t even know why. Or maybe it’s because you needed something from him and when he denies you you retreat in silence, feeling rejected (going under.... ). And he gets mad at you for that! How dare you ignore him or dismiss him when he’s talking to you! And he turns it all around, every time, blaming it on you. Again. (Dying, drowning, falling ...) And you second guess yourself (blurring and stirring the truth and the lies...). “Maybe I’ll wake up for once...” and finally see and believe this game he’s playing. Because if he really loved you, he wouldn’t psychologically and emotionally abuse you. He would not say such mean things. You wouldn’t say such things to him..... because you’re normal. And you love him. It’s a horrible tragedy. And it’s your own integrity and kindness and goodness that got you here. It’s the ultimate injustice. I know
  • Keira from Butler PaWell in normal people terms the crowd being the demons would represent facing all of your demons while trying to get away from someone else's demons that are chasing you. And tbh I'm a mystic so I related the video to her being a siren tbh but then I thought in normal terms
  • Tamika from Australia I always thought this song was honestly about depression. I relate to all the words, because I live with depression myself. It seems like she's talking to depression. I really liked this song in the past but never listened to the words but when I was really down, I had the album playing and I finallly listened to the lyrics and was mind blown!
  • Jeffrey from Boston, , NySome people I know are convinced that this song is about masturbation.....but they are totally wrong..
  • Lexxus from Not Telling......;d, TxI love this song so much! I think it's about feeling like someone in your life is pulling you under. You can't breathe emotionally. You feel like there keeping you under, you can't break free.
  • Lilly from East Meadow, Nyomg! this is the perfect song for me! i now love it 500 times as much as i did when i first heard it!!! this is the exact situation i'm in!
  • Constantine from Nicosia, CyprusI have always thought - reading the lyrics and also reading what Amy said about the song - that this song is about revenge or something. Carrie, a film by Brian De Palma and a Stephen King novel, features a shy and tormented-by-everyone teenage girl, Carrie, who posseses telekinetic powers who has a chance to live a moment in the sun when she is strangely voted queen of the prom at her school dance, only to discover that everything was set in order for her tormentors to humiliate her once again: a bucket of blood is dumped on her, and her only happy moments destroyed and then she decides to take revenge for her life's miseries by locking everyone in the gym at the prom and unleashing her rage through her powers, eventually causing a fire that kills everyone. The concept is just like Amy said about the song: when you're at the end of your rope, when you're at the point where you realize something has to change, that you can't go on living in the situation that you're in.
  • Brian from Los Angeles, CaThis song rocks! And the music video is freakin awesome.
  • Amber-skye from Newmarket, OnThis song reminds me of the relationship I had with one of my ex-friends. I used to do her dirty work 4 her and no matter how much I told her it was wrong, she wouldn't stop (screaming, deceiving and bleeding for you and you still wont hear me) then I would get in trouble and she wouldn't help me out. (Don't want you're hand this time I'll save myself) she would make me fell bad about my self (50,000 tears I've cried) I would tell everyone different lies and truths (blurring and stirring the truth and the lies) . I couldn't just ditch her and say no because she was one of the most popular girls in our school and because everyone says I'm Goth, I have no friends. One day I got so fed up with her I punched her in the face on the bus and broke her nose. Everyone thought I was mean but then when I told the principal what she was doing to me, everyone wanted to be my friend for her beating up. :)
  • Taylor from Pueblo, CoIt is an awsome song!.
  • Rachel from Cleveland, AlThis is the best song ever!! This is the best band ever. I wish I could see them in concert one day but I know thats not possible.
  • Joel from Columbia, ScGood song. Anyone else wonder what the significance of the audience turning into demons
is about? Would love to hear some feedback on that
  • Gerrit from Dillon, CoThis is called "Song Facts" not Song Opinions. I believe the facts have already been stated.
  • Tara from Somewhere, FlThis is what it means to me: i love my mother, and then when i think again the next day or a few days afterward, i hate her again. even when i do love her, i'm angry at her. and so often, whatever i do for her it never seems to be enough [Now I will tell you what I've done for you. 50 Thousand tears I've cried. Screaming, deceiving and bleeding for you.] and she never pays attention to me [and you still won't hear me] when i'm talking or to whatever i'm doing and i get so angry at her i can barley even stand it. and i wonder if it's in my head or if it's real [Blurring and stirring the truth and the lies; so I don't know what's real and what's not. Always confusing the thoughts in my head; so I can't trust myself anymore.]
  • Kerri from Long Beach, NyAmy was in an abusive relationship herself and wrote this song.
  • Martin Owens from Belfast, Irelandi think that the song is about i relationship and how much her partner is crowding her he wont let her free and it feels like she is going under.
  • Jessica from Plano, TxThis is not what this song is about, but this is what it means to me: when I was nine, my mom disowned me and my brother and sisters. It reminds me of that in the first stanza, she's too busy being dunk and smoking weed to care (now I will show you all I've done for you, 5000 tears I've cried, screaming decieving and bleeding for you, and you still won't hear me), but every once in a while she sends letters and stuff like she's trying to help, which basically puts my mind back on it (don't want your hand this time, I'll save myself). Then the chorus reminds me of how it felt (and sometimes feels now) like memories of how it used to be, when she was actually Mom and she wasn't the worst traitor I have ever known, and then memories which should have alerted me that we were going downhill but I never realized it, and then memories of after the disown-ment. The second chorus reminds me of how I lied about being happy and fine and I sometimes even convinced myself it was true.
  • Samantha from Nowheresville, WaAmy herself said the song is about coming out of a bad relationship.
  • Kevin from Independence, MoIt doesnt have to be about a woman being tormented by her lover. Although i agree with you.
  • Martin Owens from Belfast, Irelandyeah i think that the song is about a girl who is being suffocated by her husband, hes not letting her be herself and its gettin in her way. she going under.
