  • Oh, Boricua
    Oh, Boricua
    Oh

Don't be fooled by the rocks that I got, Boricua
    Boricuas in the house
Don't be fooled by the rocks that I got
Used to have a little, now I have a lot
No matter where I go, I know I came from

From In Living Color to movie scripts
To On the 6 to J.Lo to this, headline clips
I stayed grounded as the amounts roll in
    I'm real, I thought I told you (I'm real)
I'm really been on Oprah (I'm real)
    That's just me
Nothing phony, don't hate on me
What you get is what you see

Don't be fooled by the rocks that I got
I'm still, I'm still Jenny from the block
Used to have a little, now I have a lot
No matter where I go, I know where I came from (from the Bronx)
Don't be fooled by the rocks that I got
I'm still, I'm still Jenny from the block
Used to have a little, now I have a lot
No matter where I go, I know where I came from (from the Bronx)

I'm still, I'm still Jenny from the block
Used to have a little, now I have a lot
No matter where I go, I know where I came from

I'm down to earth like this
    Rockin' this business
    I've grown up so much
I'm in control and loving it
    Rumors got me laughing, kid
I love my life and my public
Put God first and can't forget to stay real (real)
To me it's like breathing (Southside Bronx)

Don't be fooled by the rocks that I got

  • Pufdoslim from Riverside Jenny from the block was actually produced by ALLEGRO a producer from LA. I've sat in the studio and watched him make the track and drop vocals on his female group. This was done long before jenny from the block came out. He submitted the track to sony for a placement and next we hear a entirely different song on his beat from the kicks to the snares ect... only thing they added was the South Bronx break.... STRAIGHT JAK MOVE........... BIG UP "ALLEGRO" the real producer!!!!
  • Mike from Santa Barbara, CaThe video to this song, portraying her and then-fiance Ben Affleck being photographed by the paparazi, was quite good. But the song itself is a monumental joke.
  • John from New Haven, CtThis song WAS NOT written by 11 writers!! It was written by Andre' "mrDEYO" Deyo (myspace.com/newmrdeyotsa). The other names on the record are the people from the 3 samples!! (like every song does!) mrDEYO wrote this song by himself and sent it to J.Lo with Natasha Ramos on the demo (most of her vocals stayed on the actual J.Lo release- there's a video on youtube and the demo can be heard @ Natasha Ramos Fan Club on myspace - she's on the backgrounds to 4 or 5 songs on that "This Is Me... Then" album) Because of the samples mrDEYO still didn't get paid yet and they're trying to give him a small percentage of the $. Jennifer Lopez didn't write anything.
  • Emily from Lv, Nji like how the somng syas shes still who she is even tho she is famous an dhas alot more money than she used to. she loves her fame, but shes still the same person she used to b and shes not giving up an dher old beliefs "i still put god first" (quote from the song)
  • Lollie from Glasgow, Scotlandyup, j-lo truly is a piece of work. not only is she trying to make people believe she is the same person she always was, but shes doing it WHILST wearing her rocks, labels, expensive dead animals and firing the people who made her and saw her through to success(although why they bothered is anyones guess). who is she kidding???never have i seen such a half hearted attempt to make people think shes "real"!!!
  • Rachel from South Point, OhJenny may be from the block, but she's also a spoiled brat. According to "Mental_Floss Presents: Forbidden Knowledge", Jennifer's contract for a charity song benefiting AIDS victims in Africa stated that she had to have a 40+ ft long trailer, solid white furnishings (except for the yellow roses with red trim), a selection of current cds, and her three favorite Diptyque candles. She was only at the benefit concert for 90 minutes.
  • Sarah Floyd from Bloomingdale, Ili like this song so much i wish i had this song. and if i did have this song then i would listen to this song everyday!!! i so love this song...
  • Nathan from Defiance, OhIt took eleven people to write this turd of a song? This is unfortunatley Ben Affleck's best film work to date.
  • Kristina from Houston, Txi think she makes a better actress than anything.
  • Jb from Beaver, Pathe video is fun to watch good eye candy in it
  • Tom from Adelaide, AustraliaThis song is self indulgent rubbish that she didn't even write. I feel like smashing stuff when I hear this tripe... eeeew...
  • Dave from Cardiff, WalesIn reply to Jonathan - "Some people gotta stop saying that J Lo is a phony pathetic person and when she is really not. You people dont even know her" - and you know this how?!; "...and she seems like the best person in the world." - what she seems like and what she really is like are not necessarily one and the same; "...it tells you how she feels about herself she doesnt feel like that person that wants to be noticed she is the kind of person that is living the moment and proud of it." - does it?! She doesn't exactly shy away from attention, does she?; "I know she has mansions and bmw's but she is still that happy good person that she was before she become popular and rich." - in that case, why is she always moaning in UK press interviews about what a hard life she's had? "All her romances have failed because she was with the wrong people that dont respect her and dont understand that she is the best person and some of her romances are dumb" - that's not altogether true. Perhaps correct of Puff Daddy, and to a far lesser extent Ben Affleck, but not of Cris Judd. He never treated her badly or cheated her that I'm aware of. That relationship broke down because she was on the rebound and used him to get back at Puff Daddy; "...i mean why would you break up with JLo?" - because she's vain, arrogant and doesn't care two figs for anyone other than herself, as she proved by dumping Cris Judd for Ben Affleck, and for snubbing Christina Milan, who wrote 'Play'; "...i mean she is one of the hottest persons in the U.S.A. and they dont appreciate it and if i was with her i would never in my life leave her." - that's a matter of opinion. Not everyone thinks she's a hottie. Woody Harrelson once said that snogging her was 'gross, the most disgusting thing I've ever done in my life'. Just because the media hype her up as a godess doesn't mean that she is attractive to everyone. I personally don't find her attractive in the slightest. You can't say that you'd never leave her (or any woman for that matter) until it actually happens. Just because you feel attracted to her doesn't mean that she's the right person for you; "Dave is really wrong and i bet you he has never been to one of her concerts" - good thing there was no money in that bet, or you'd have lost. I've actually seen her perform live twice. Though not dire, she's far from the best live act I've ever seen; "...i have and i loved them because she sings about real stuff and not like other singers that make up stuff" - how do you know that stuff isn't made up? She doesn't write many songs of her own anyway, so she isn't actually singing from experience; "I love JLo and i am proud to say it i dont care about what other people think about me cuz i still love her" - that's a fair comment, and I respect your point of view entirely on that matter, but, likewise, others are also entitled to their own opinions. Yes, I may be biased, but that doesn't mean that I'm wrong
  • Jonathan from Olney, MdSome people gotta stop saying that J Lo is a phony pathetic person and when she is really not. You people dont even know her and she seems like the best person in the world. You might think that i like her because I'm Hispanic but if i was white i would like her.I love the song ***Jenny from the BLock* because it tells you how she feels about herself she doesnt feel like that person that wants to be noticed she is the kind of person that is living the moment and proud of it. I know she has mansions and bmw's but she is still that happy good person that she was before she become popular and rich. All her romances have failed because she was with the wrong people that dont respect her and dont understand that she is the best person and some of her romances are dumb i mean why would you break up with JLo i mean she is one of the hottest persons in the U.S.A. and they dont appreciate it and if i was with her i would never in my life leave her. Dave is really wrong and i bet you he has never been to one of her concerts i have and i loved them because she sings about real stuff and not like other singers that make up stuff. I love JLo and i am proud to say it i dont care about what other people think about me cuz i still love her i love almost every one of her songs especially Jenny from the Block and get right the remis with fabolous. I love JLo
  • Tiffany from Denver, CoDoesn't she have a song called "I'm Real" which has the exact same theme?
  • Jonathan from Greenville, NcJennifer Lopez raped this song from The Beatnuts, a somewhat underground hip hop duo, "Watch out now". Listen to any section of the song and you will believe you're listening to Lopez. You are instead, luckily, listening to a much better and more original song.
  • Shell from Riverdale, GaMy wife says that beyond the obvious BS factor what really grates on her nerves is that it took ELEVEN people to write this stupidity.
  • Amanda from Mineral Ridge, OhJennifer lopez is a flaming example of hipocracy...Dont be fooled by the rocks that i got, no but be fooled by the Mercedes, Mansions and Chanel dresses she owns.
  • Dave from Cardiff, WalesAlthough she's always been an increibly arrogant and conceited person, this song really does take the biscuit! Jennifer Lopez really must be having a laugh if she expects anyone to believe that she's the same person she always was! Would 'Jenny From The Block' have had the nerve to order that nine rooms with expensive flowers and champagne lining the walls (eight of which she never used, and the other she only used for two hours), all with expensive bath items in the water closets, be reserved for her at reduced expenses in the hotel she stayed in for the 2002 Brit Awards? I just hope they made all of the doors big wnough for her to fit her head through! Talk about hypocrisy!!! Not to mention that, as Kal correctly pointed out, this song blatantly plagarises The Beatnuts' "Watch Out Now". Anyway, if Ms Lopez really is real, why does she feel the need to prove this to anyone? She's an absolutely pathetic person - takes the meaning of the word 'phony' to an entirely new dimension! No wonder all of her romances have failed.
  • Kal from Fredericton, CanadaAll the stuff that is said below is true but you guys forgot that she stole the beat from The Beatnuts "Watch out now" without consulting or asking them. Phony.
  • Britney from Calabasas, CaShe is so fake and phony and not real. The fact that you gotta sing (or how the SNL people put it computerize) a song proving to people saying that your real?! HELLO!!!! How fake do u havta be. If I felt real I wouldn't try and prove it ta anyone. I don't even have to know her as a person I see how she portrays her life she is a sad pathetic person.
  • Virnalisa from Santo Domingo, OtherI think that this song is so fony, through this song she wants that everbody understands that she's still a girl from the block ,but let's face it that is totally false ,she has to admit that she is not the same person as she was years before her breakthrough ,don't u think u would change???
  • Jenni from Bilbao, Spaini agree with what conrad is getting at, how can she say that she is still the same as before when she does things like demanding to bathe in avion water, i mean come on!
  • Misti from Kempner, Txyou cant always believe what people say conrad. That driver could have been lying I mean come on!!
  • Conrad from Los Angeles, CaI know a driver that did one of her photo shoots. He said that she told Ben affleck during the shoot that (To paraphrase her) "He spends too much time hanging out with the crew and he should use his celebrity more"

    Kinda contradicts this song, eh?
