  • Rainy day, rain all day
Ain't no use in gettin' uptight
Just let it groove its own way
Let it drain your worries away yeah
Lay back and groove on a rainy day hey
Lay back and dream on a rainy day
Lay back and groove on a rainy day
    Lay back
    Oh yeah

Lay back and groove on a rainy day
Lay back and groove on a rainy day
Lay back and dream on a rainy day
Lay back and groove on a rainy day
Lay back and dream on a rainy day
Lay back and, lay back, lay back, lay back and groove

    Ooh
    Aah

  • Phil from Nortwest Side, ChicagoHas anyone ever remixed/remastered Electric Ladyland and reunited the twins separatedat birth—Rainy Day, Dream Away and Still Raining, Still Dreaming. I tried splicing them together on tape, but my equipment back then sucked. It does sound cool back to back.
  • Sherril Nell Wells from Fresno, CaMy mother managed the band whose musicians played on this track. They were called the Serfs and were from Wichita Kansas. They were in the studio recording their own album at the same time.
  • Chris from Corvallis, Oregon UsaMike Finnegan was indeed the sideman, but in those days his band was based in Topeka, Kansas, not New York. The sessions were in New York. Mike Finnegan and the Serfs were recording in the same building. Hendrix heard them and invited Finnegan to jam with him. Hendrix called them "the cats from Kansas." (It is true that Finnegan has played B-3 with many big name performers--see his bio on Wikipedia.) I heard Mike Finnegan and the Serfs live in Lawrence, Kansas, right around this same time, and Finnegan was an absolute monster. It's tough to say who is better on the B-3 on Electric Ladyland, him or Stevie Winwood. The ending of Still Raining Still Dreaming is insane, and it sounds to me like Finnegan is almost running the show at that point.
  • Leo from Millersville, MdJimi actually wrote this in Florida when on of his concerts got drenched buy a massive storm and it was canceled I think he was in a station wagon. Its on the Rino DVD "The Making Of Electric Ladyland" I think Eddie Kramer said that. BTW great DVD can be had for like 10-15$
  • Scott from Waynesboro, PaThis song is wah-wah 101. And 201. and 312 and 436. It's a whole Master's thesis on the Crybaby. One of Jimi's best recorded moments, coupled with "Rainy Day, Dream Away".
  • Jim from Clevenad, OhSteve Winwood did not play the organ on this song. It was a session man from New York named Mike Finnigan. Steve Winwood appeared on "Voodoo Chile" only.
  • Horace from Bethesda, MdThe beginings of Fusion.
  • Kyle from Redding, CaHendrix wrote this inside a taxi cab one day. when it was, of course, raining. Never saw a reason to let it get him down.
  • Mota from Rat Town, WiJimis Wah in this song sounds heavenly. Gotta love those rainy days 8-]
