Drowning Lessons

Album: I Brought You My Bullets You Brought Me Your Love (2002)
  • Without a sound I took her down
And dressed in red and blue I squeezed
    Imaginary wedding gown
That you can't wear in front of me

    A kiss goodbye
    Your twisted shell
As rice grains and roses fall at your feet
Let's say goodbye, the hundredth time
And then tomorrow we'll do it again

    Tomorrow we'll do it again

I dragged her down I put her out
And back there I left her where no one could see
And lifeless cold into this well
I stared as this moment was held for me

    A kiss goodbye
    Your twisted shell
As rice grains and roses fall at your feet
Let's say goodbye, the hundredth time
And then tomorrow we'll do it again

I never thought it'd be this way
Just me and you, we're here alone
And if you stay, all I'm asking for is
    A thousand bodies piled up
I never thought would be enough
To show you just what I've been thinking

And I'll keep on making more
Just to prove that I adore
    Every inch of sanity
    All I'm asking for is
    All I'm asking for is

    Come on!

    These hands stained red
From the times that I've killed you and then
We can wash down this engagement ring
    With poison and kerosene
    We'll laugh as we die
And we'll celebrate the end of things
    With cheap champagne

    Without, without a sound
    Without, without a sound
    And I wish you away
    Without a sound
    And I wish you away
    Without a sound
    Without a sound
    And I wish you away
    Without a sound
    Without a sound
    And I wish you away
    Without a sound
    Without a sound
And I wish you away Writer/s: Frank Iero, Gerard Way, Matthew Pellisier, Michael Way, Ray Toro

  • Rae from Buxton, NcThis is about a very in love couple, but the groom is depressed and takes anti depressants (like Gerard at the time). The boy takes the pills and it gives him the strength to kill his bride which he has secretly been wanting to do he whole time. He drowns her, but yet he still loves her extremely much.
  • Rae from Buxton, NcThis song is awesome beyond description
  • Transmission Revenge from Sydney, AustraliaI just wanted to add that the line "As rice grains and roses fall at your feet" refers to when a couple is getting married they have a jar and fill it with grains of rice (usually coloured) and of course their are roses at a wedding.
  • Joseph from Battery City, Cai tried to figure out what happens in this song but there is so much that cant be put into words but can felt by the emotions of the song.
  • Alex from Mesa, AzThis song is acctually about how a couple were getting married. The groom walked in on the bride cheating on him with another man on the couples wedding day.So he kills her and the man. He does what some seriel killers do and fantasizes himself killing her "a thousand bodies piled up" the wedding repersents "These hands, stained red, from the times I have killed you and then, we can wash down this engagement ring with poison and kerosene" How he kills her by poison and how they're love ends in fire, kerosene=lighter fluid.
  • Bella from Fu**erton, CaAlso, it could be about a relationship that's falling apart. The sort where it's near the end, and although neither can bring themself to end it, they just fight the little fights of people who are too afraid of the big ones. He feels like every day he is killing her with his words. She could be pressuring him to get married, even though it wouldn't work. Hence the marriage references: "imaginary wedding gown", "as rice grains and roses fall at your feet".
  • Bella from Fu**erton, CaOkay the demolition lovers: they got in a huge gunfight, as indicated in their song. the guy died. He got sent to hell, where the devil cut him a deal: if he kills 1000 evil men, he can be reunited with his lover. So, it's not so much purgatory as a deal with the devil.
  • Loz from Perth, Australiamatthew,

    its called a metaphor!

    this is an awesome song!

its great and dont diss it
  • Matthew from Milford, Ma...Escaping purgatory by committing sin? The whole point of purgatory is to pay for sin, to atone for it. Committing sins in there breaks the purpose!!!
