  • I got a pocket, got a pocketful of sunshine.
I got a love, and I know that it's all mine.
    Oh, oh whoa

Do what you want, but you're never gonna break me.
Sticks and stones are never gonna shake me.
    No, oh whoa

Take me away (take me away)
A secret place (a secret place)
A sweet escape (a sweet escape)
Take me away (take me away)

Take me away (take me away)
To better days (to better days)
Take me away (take me away)
A hiding place (a hiding place)

I got a pocket, got a pocketful of sunshine.
I got a love, and I know that it's all mine.
    Oh, oh whoa

Do what you want, but you're never gonna break me.
Sticks and stones are never gonna shake me.
    No, oh whoa

I got a pocket, got a pocketful of sunshine.
I got a love, and I know that it's all mine.
    Oh, oh whoa

Wish that you could, but you ain't gonna own me.
Do anything you can to control me.
    Oh, oh no

Take me away (take me away)
A secret place (a secret place)
A sweet escape (a sweet escape)
Take me away (take me away)

Take me away (take me away)
To better days (to better days)
Take me away (take me away)
A hiding place (a hiding place)

    There's a place that I go,
    That nobody knows.
    Where the rivers flow,
    And I call it home.

    And there's no more lies.
    In the darkness, there's light.
    And nobody cries.
    There's only butterflies.

Take me away (take me away)
A secret place (a secret place)
A sweet escape (a sweet escape)
Take me away (take me away)

Take me away (take me away)

The sun is on my side.
    Take me for a ride.
I smile up to the sky.
I know I'll be all right.

The sun is on my side.
    Take me for a ride.
I smile up to the sky.
I know I'll be all right. Writer/s: DANIELLE BRISEBOIS, JOHN SHANKS, NATASHA BEDINGFIELD

  • The Right Lyric from AustraliaGuys, Westland from Australia's comment is wrong. They're delusional. The lyrics are "wish that you could but you ain't gonna own me, do anything to control me". I'm listening to the song right now. Also I agree with Matt from Houston's comment - this song definitely isn't about drugs or sex for that matter, its also not about religion. You can have your own perspective on songs and their meanings obviously but the person who co wrote the song said her rehab counselors gave her a coin to carry as a reminder of a "safe place", which inspired the idea of having something positive and comforting in her pocket - thus the pocketful of sunshine. And Natasha herself intended for the song to be a message for her 14-year-old brother at the time to emphasise the idea of taking ownership of his own life. - When I read that I thought he died, He's fine.
  • Westland from AustraliaThere lyrics are wrong. The verse "wish that you could but you ain't gonna own me, do anything to control me"

This should be " wish that you could but you ain't gonna own me, do anything you wan't you can't slow me down"
  • Jenica from CanadaNo pocket full of sunshine is about the Holy Spirit. Natasha Beddingfield is a Christian. If you look at her history she used to sing with hillsong.
  • Nancy from Baltimore, Mdcute song. after Easy-A came out, I liked it better
  • Theresa from Murfreesboro, TnCatchy chorus - wonderful singer.
  • Julia from Richland, WaI really like this song.
  • Matt from Houston, TxIt means she wants to go to her happy place but until she gets there she will have to just grin and bare it. No offense, but saying it's about drugs is a bit small minded. Trust me drugs do not take you to a place where you can forget your problems. It pretty much just puts them on hold. But you are right about1 thing. these days it's all about sex and drugs.
  • Trina from New York, NyI don't think this is about drugs, but I don't get it, because she's saying how happy she is, and then she's like "take me away from here!" If she's so happy where she is and she's saying how upbeat she is and she has a pocketful of sunshine, then why does she want to be taken away somewhere? It doesn't sound drug-related, but I don't know, everything nowadays IS drug-related.
  • Kane from Wytheville, Vathe remix is worse
pocket full of moonshine!!!!!! thats a joke!!!!!
  • Shilo from Noneofyourbuisness, ItalyI love it,it's so happy and upbeat! ^^ ~Shilo~
  • Stupid from Boston, MaThis song is about her having drugs in her pocket. By a secret place means getting high. Isn't it obvious???!!!!! This song is bad for a little kiD!!!!
  • Jlew from Yazoo, MsI Love This Song!!!!!!!!!
  • Valerie from None Of Ur Buisness!!, Bcwow, im the first comment.... umm well i kina like this song. i mean, its an upbeat, happy song. =) just what the music scene needs. =D
