    (Dee doody doom doom, doom)
Seven little girls sittin' in the backseat
Huggin' and a kissin' with Fred
I said, "Why don't one of you come up and sit beside me?"
And this is what the seven girls said

All together now, one, two, three
Keep your mind on your driving
Keep your hands on the wheel
Keep your snoopy eyes on the road ahead
We're having fun, sittin' in the backseat
Kissin' and a huggin' with Fred

(Dee doody doom doom, dee doody doom doom)
    (Dee doody doom doom, doom)

    Drove through the town
    Drove through the country
Showed 'em how a motor could go
I said, "How do you like my triple carburetor?"
And one of them whispered low

All together now, one, two, three
Keep your mind on your driving
Keep your hands on the wheel
Keep your snoopy eyes on the road ahead
We're havin' fun, sittin' in the backseat
Kissin' and a huggin' with Fred

(Dee doody doom doom, dee doody doom doom)
    (Dee doody doom doom, doom)

    Seven little girls
    Smooching in the backseat
Every one in love with Fred
I said, "You don't need me, I'll get off at my house"
And this is what the seven girls said

All together now, one, two, three
Keep your mind on your driving
Keep your hands on the wheel
Keep your snoopy eyes on the road ahead
We're having fun, sittin' in the backseat
Kissin' and a huggin' with Fred

All of them in love with Fred
    (Dee doodee doom doom)
Kissin' and a huggin' with Fred
    (Dee doodee doom doom)

  • CarlSomething I never understood was why that driver put up with that treatment in HIS CAR.

Ok I know it’s just a song. And from the fifties no less
  • Pattyr from OhioI thought Fred was a dog. Became evident in the verse.
  • Sue M Collin from Hoffman Est IlI loved the song seven sister seating in the back seat with Fred
  • Jeanette K from AlabamaI was in a skit in Kindergarten 1960. I was one of the seven little girls sitting in the backseat with Fred. It was my first performance ever and will never forget it. I just sang it to my husband who says he has never heard of the song. He is a little older than me and I would have thought he would know it. It was such a fun song for a skit!
  • Bob from CaIt’s keep "your" mind and keep "your" hands, not "you."
  • Barry from Sauquoit, NyOn January 16th 1960, Paul Evans performed "Seven Little Girls (Sitting In The Backseat)" on the ABC-TV program 'Dick Clark's Saturday Night Beechnut Show'...
At the time the song was at #82 on Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart, and that was also its last week on the chart; just under ten weeks earlier on November 9th, 1959 it had peaked at #9 {for 1 week} and it stayed on the chart for 18 weeks...
*Nine days later on January 25th his next release, "Midnight Special", would enter the Top 100 at #70; it would peak at #16 {for 1 week} on March 21st, 1960.
  • Sam from Sherman OaksI wonder what else the seven little girls would be doing in the backseat with Fred besides kissing and hugging, but I honest don't think they would be doing that because if they did, they could have gotten pulled over and arrested by the cops (and since this song was written in the 50's, which was a pretty Innocent time for music and things in general, I highly doubt the seven little girls were doing anything else with Fred besides kissing and hugging, so I don't think that was a possibility).
  • Kristin from Bessemer, AlGreat song - I play a copy of this song for my grand-nephew and he just flips out-
