  • There's a girl that's been on my mind
    All the time, Sus-Sussudio, oh-oh
Now she don't even know my name
But I think she likes me just the same, Sus-Sussudio, whoa-oh

Ah, if she called me, I'd be there
    I'd come running anywhere
She's all I need, all my life
I feel so good if I just say the word, Sus-Sussudio
Just say the word, oh, Sus-Sussudio

Now I know that I'm too young
My love has just begun, Sus-Sussudio, oh-oh
Ooh, give me a chance, give me a sign
    I'll show her anytime, Sus-Sus-Sussudio, oh-oh

Ah, I've got to have her, have her now
I've got to get closer, but I don't know how
She makes me nervous and makes me scared
But I feel so good if I just say the word, Sus-Sussudio
Just say the word, oh, S-Sus-Sussudio, oh

Ah, she's all I need, all of my life
I feel so good if I just say the word, Sus-Sussudio
I'll just say the word, oh, S-Sus-Sussudio
I'll just say the word, oh, Sus-Sussudio
I'll say the word, oh, S-Su-Sussudio, oh-oh, oh, oh

    Just say the word
Ooh, just, just, just say the word, ooh
    Just say the word
    S-Sus-Sussudio, Sus-Sussudio
    Ah, Sus-Su-Sussudio, Sus-Sussudio
    Sussudio, Sus-Sussudio

    Just say the word, Sus-Sussudio
    Say the word, oh
    Just say the word
Ooh, just, just, just say the word Writer/s: Pillip Collins

  • Oliver Clothesoff from Here“I tell ya, life ain’t easy for a boy named Sussudio.”
  • R.e.g. from U.s.I wish I could remember which team it was, but either the Blue Devils or UNC used this in their commercials during the '85-'86 men's basketball season. I'm sure other college teams both in basketball and other sports used it, but I'll forever associate the song with either Duke or UNC as it got heavy commercial air on the local North Carolina stations advertising one of those school men's basketball teams.
  • Susan from Los Angeles Alex from New Orleans that's where Phil was on tour with Robert plant They had a concert in Biloxi Mississippi on the coast 1984.
  • Oliver Clothesoff from Over Here If Doctor Seuss had had a studio to write in, it would have been his Suesstudio.
  • Mitchell from Liverpool, UkFor years as a kid, I thought that this song was about a woman whose first name was Sue, and last name was Sussudio. Hence 'Sue-Sussudio'. I later learned it was just made up.
  • Seventhmist from 7th HeavenI feel so good if I just say the word: Fahrvergnügen!!
  • Cmon from Miami, Falkland IslandsAll you guys are wrong well in a way. He probably met hispanic person during that time and it just came to head "susidio" which mean "happened" in spanish. C'mon now. But he didn't know the proper way of saying it and it just came out the way it came out. Duh.
  • Barry from Sauquoit, Ny1985 was a good year for Phil Collins; he had three #1 records. First there was "One More Night", followed by "Sussudio", and finally "Separate Lives" in a duo with Marilyn Martin!!!
  • Esskayess from Dallas, TxIf he really loves Sussudio, he should urge her to change her silly name.
  • Ellen from Chicago, IlYes, overplayed back in the day, but still great for a smile (and to remember "back in the day" many years later!)
  • Tom from Marble Falls, ArThe radio stations overplayed this one so much, it was inevitable that it would end up being one the 50 worst! Right up there with Michael Jackson's "Billie jean" and Janet Jackson's "Miss You Much."
As a matter of fact, pretty much EVERYTHING Phil Collins ever sang was played way too much on radio!!
  • Edward Pearce from Ashford, Kent, EnglandAnnabelle, it was Lily who Phil Collins was talking about in the quote from VH1 Storytellers, which I posted.
  • Annabelle from Eugene, OrWhich one of Phil's daughters has the horse? Is it Jolie, or is it Lily?
  • Clarke from Pittsburgh, PaI realize that there are probably some hard-core Genesis fans who utterly despise this song, but it remains one of the "catchiest" songs that Phil Collins has ever done (and I have no problem with catchy pop songs).
  • Nathan from Defiance, OhVH1 named this one the worst songs ever, but they also like crappy reality shows so that doesn't mean very much.
  • Matt from Millbrae, CaThis was named in VH!'s list of the 50 Worst Songs of all time.
  • Jim from Watkins Glen, NyAppears during the infamous threesome scene in American Psycho.
  • Alex from New Orleans, LaThis song technically is about being in love with someone, but you don't know their name.
