  • Sah ein Mädchen ein Röslein stehen
    Blühte dort in lichten Höhen
    Sprach sie ihren Liebsten an
Ob er es ihr steigen kann

Sie will es und so ist es fein
So war es und so wird es immer sein
Sie will es und so ist es Brauch
Was sie will bekommt sie auch

    Tiefe Brunnen muss man graben
    Wenn man klares Wasser will
    Rosenrot oh Rosenrot

    Tiefe Brunnen muss man graben
    Wenn man klares Wasser will
    Rosenrot oh Rosenrot

    Tiefe Brunnen muss man graben
    Wenn man klares Wasser will
    Rosenrot oh Rosenrot
    Tiefe Wasser sind nicht still

    Tiefe Brunnen muss man graben
    Wenn man klares Wasser will
    Rosenrot oh Rosenrot

  • Daniël from NetherlandsI think the song is teaching us that we should move on.

    Tiefe Brunnen muss man graben.
-You ll have to go far
    Wenn man klares Wasser will
-if you ever want to satisfy your girlfriend
    Tiefe Wasser sind nicht still
-Just like deep waters, your girlfriends satisfaaction will go away after time, so next time you ll have to do even more to satisfy her.
  • Fuzzykittenkisses from UsaThe whipping is punishment for desires. They actually whipped themselves for the video as well...ouch.
  • Anastasia from South Jordan, UtThe whipping is an allusion to flagellation in Europe. It's honestly a metric ton of genius on Rammstein's behalf.
Go read up on flagellants since it's a lot of information D=
  • Janina from Colone, GermanyIts spelled Schneewittchen...........heehee
  • Avery from Bucksport, MeThis band is so kick ass. they are like the best german metal band...Ever.
  • James Williams from Nowhere, Nmoh and This song is based upon the poem "Heidenröslein" by Goethe and the story "Schneeweißchen und Rosenrot" from the Brothers Grimm
  • James Williams from Nowhere, NmOK ITS ABOUT THE MONK LOVES THE GIRL BLAH BLAH BLAH SAME THING JOSEPH SAID

EXCEPT THE WHIPPING IS FOR RELIGIOUS PURIFICATION LIKE BOBBY SAID

THE SHIP AARON WAS TALKING ABOUT IS ON THE COVER

THIS SONGS VIDEO WAS TO CONTROVERSIAL FOR GERMAN MTV SO IT WAS BANNED

ROSE RED REPRESENTS THE BLOOD AND POSSIBLY THE GIRL THE GIRL ORDERS HIM TO KILL HER FAMILY WHICH APPARANTLY DISLIKES HER. SHE WANTS FREEDOM FROM THEM I GUESS.

in the end "rose" represents the evil in the world

till wrote this for a girl supposedly

for his own thoughts about her just like the song
  • Kathy from Karben, GermanyOh, and I forgot: he's found dead holding the edelweiss in his hand(covered in blood)...tragic ;)
  • Kathy from Karben, GermanyThere's a German folksong(not very popular), my granny used to sing it to me. And it's about a boy and a girl. The girl askes the boy to bring her an edelweiss. So the boy climbs on a mountain. but just shortly after he gets the flower, he falls from the mountain and dies. The girl then cries over(?) him.

Loved this song, well, it's quite similar to Rammsteins. :)

And about the whipping, it's quite similar to the monk's whipping in Da Vinci Code ;)

    Great song!

  • Aaron from Harrisonville, MoRosenrot is a German Ship that was sent to America during the World War II.
  • Dan from Bethpage, NySomewhat the same as Bobby (TX), I believe that the other band members flog themselves to keep their own desires under control.
  • Zach from Ladysmith, WiIn some ways..this song is right... you shouldnt obsesse over someone to long it waste your whole life away while others are out having fun and enjoyin themselves you gotta keep your realationship to miniuium when your young..I hope mine doesnt come back to bite me.
  • Bobby from Fort Worth, TxI think the band members are whipping themselves as a form of religious purification.
