  • These things
    That I've
    Been told
    Can rearrange
    My world
    My doubt
    In time
    But inside out
    This is the working hour
We are paid by those who learn by our mistake
    This day
    And age
    For all
    And not for one
    All lies
    And secrets
    Put on
    Put on and on
    This is the working hour
We are paid by those who learn by our mistake
And fear is such a vicious thing
It wraps me up in chains
    Find out
    Find out
    What this fear is about
    Find out
    Find out
What this fear is about Writer/s: Ian Stanley, Manny Elias, Roland Orzabal

  • Grx from InMy memory failed me, because I always remembered this as the first track on the album. It's really an amazing soundscape to set up the rest of the album. it's moody and atmospheric. I love these types of songs and when I think of this album, I think of the Working Hour even more than EWTRTW. I'm also a big fan of Arcadia who made some very lengthy ensemble moody pieces. As a musician these days, I'm still drawn to this style of songwriting and I'm ok with it being perhaps dated...as I'm only working on producing stuff that I like. This TFF album is in my top ten.
  • Cat from New YorkGreat song...the sax is pulsating through my room but the meaning is LOUDER.... WHY ARE WE WORKING FOR SOMEONE WHO DOESNT APPRECIATE US? Speaks volumes!!!!
  • AnonymousI remember spinning the album when it came out in 85 and on first listen it instantly became my fav song on the album.
  • Mark from Peacehaven Probably the best song ever written. A masterpiece. Ahead of its time. Huge respect to Roland for writing a genius track!
  • Beetle from ParisFor this specific song, sax solo is from Mel Collins (https://www.pearlflute.com/artists/mel-collins)
Anyway, I do love this song.
  • T. Michels from Venlo, NetherlandsI love this song! Great lyrics and great musical part!
Tears For Fears olso made a new song round the musical part of this song. It's called 'When in love with a blind man'
Olso, there is a reference to this song on the song 'Advice for the young at heart' from the seeds of love. This reference is the next: 'Working hour is over'
    Lovely song! :D
