  • Where I come from isn't all that great
My automobile is a piece of crap
My fashion sense is a little wack
And my friends are just as screwy as me
I didn't go to boarding schools
Preppy girls never looked at me
Why should they? I ain't nobody
    Got nothing in my pocket

    Beverly Hills
That's where I want to be
    (Gimme gimme, gimme gimme)
    Livin' in Beverly Hills
    Beverly Hills
    Rollin' like a celebrity
    (Gimme gimme, gimme gimme)
    Livin' in Beverly Hills

Look at all those movie stars
They're all so beautiful and clean
When the housemaids scrub the floors
They get the spaces in between
I wanna live a life like that
I wanna be just like a king
Take my picture by the pool
'Cause I'm the next big thing

    Beverly Hills
That's where I want to be
    (Gimme gimme, gimme gimme)
    Livin' in Beverly Hills
    Beverly Hills
    Rollin' like a celebrity
    (Gimme gimme, gimme gimme)
    Livin' in Beverly Hills

    The truth is
    I don't stand a chance
It's something that you're born into
    And I just don't belong

    No I don't, I'm just a no-class beat-down fool
And I will always be that way
I might as well enjoy my life
    And watch the stars play

    Beverly Hills
That's where I want to be
    (Gimme gimme, gimme gimme)
    Livin' in Beverly Hills
    Beverly Hills
    Rollin' like a celebrity
    (Gimme gimme, gimme gimme)
    Livin' in Beverly Hills

    Beverly Hills
    Beverly Hills
    Yeah, Beverly Hills
    Beverly Hills

  • Chris from Germany song is ok. But was overplayed on US Radio
    it was everywhere in 2005

    USA #10

I'm from Germany and fan of the band since 1995

it has some kind of I LOVE ROCK N ROLL vibe
  • Babbling Babette from Tulsa OkIt's a cool song with squealing guitars & crashing drums and crazy lyrics that all work. Rivers talks out the lyrics instead of singing, telling about how he longs to live the rich life in Beverly Hills, later realizing that he's just a nobody & settles for just "watching the stars play." It's been ten years now since the song was released. It hit big here in Oklahoma then on the alternative rock stations & others. I learned here on Songfacts that the single got to #10 on Billboards Hot 100 in '05. But it hit #1 on Billboards Modern Rock Chart. Nowdays, I tend to watch the alternative rock charts or modern rock charts, since Billboard's Hot 100 is mainly for pop these days & I am definitely NOT into that crap! Rivers wrote this song based on a personal experience & shows his great creative mind.
  • Aiken Nutz from Tahlequah OkThis song was on Weezer's 2005 album Make Believe that my oldest brother got. I was four years old then & wasn't allowed to listen to rock music then. He gave me some of his Weezer albums in 2011 & I became a Weezer fan. This is one of their songs I thinks is cool. Rivers Cuomo's voice is different but sounds cool. Love those guitars and the drum. Beverly Hills - that's where I wanna be!!
  • Rocky from Tulsa, Ok"Beverly Hills" is a big #2 hit for Weezer, but it's not exactly their style compared to their other songs. I don't care. I think you gotta put in some change to keep things fresh and interesting some times. And it worked. I realize we all have our opinions, but there's some real whackos making comments against Weezer. But I see more people love Weezer. They need to give us fans a new album too!
  • Raunchy from Tulsa, OkLove this song & I love Weezer! Rivers voice is so different, but cool, in this song compared to his other works. When I first heard it on the radio, I couldn't tell what the background singers were saying. Then I found th lyrics on the web & it's "gimme, gimmee." Fits the "conspicuous consumption" lifestyle in Beverly Hills. Bling, wheels of gold, trust funds, mansions for pets, nannies, and greed! I think Rivers is a genius composer. Weezer is still an awesome bank here in 2014. Whoever doesnt like Weezer shouldn't be on this site in the first place! It should be only for Weezer fans!
  • Rocky from Fort Smith, ArI love this song & I love Weezer. I learned about Weezer from my Dad & uncle who grew up when Weezer first came on the rock scene in the Nineties. I wonder why Songfacts lists this song as peaking at #10? I read on Biography.com that this song peaked at #2 on a Billboard chart. There are so many charts nowdays I guess they were #10 on some chart somewhere. Anyway, here in 2014 I became a Weezer fan. And this song has a catchy melody. Yeah!
  • Rotunda from Tulsa, OkI still love this song & I love Weezer. In fact, I heard "Beverly Hills" on alternative rock radio just today & I just had to write Songfacts. I love several Weezer songs; some are better than others. But Beverly Hills, CA. really isn't a place where I'd ever like to live. Too many people only concerned with themselves & how they can look better or how much more money they have than other people. Soul-less bodies! Greed. I'm happy loving my kids & my raunchy hubby. And I love Weezer too. I think it's because Rivers' songs are so off-beat that they're interesting. If you don't get Rivers' songs, that's OK. Just leave it to those of us who do. Rotunda says, go in Peace.
  • Randy from Fayettevile, ArWeezer is one of the best alternative rock bands & most rock critics agree. I'm not concerned with those that don't like Weezer. Just move on. Weezer fans outnumber those who aren't, so that shows you that they don't matter. I've been a Weezer fan since they became successful in the early Nineties. So rock on, Weezer, you've got more fans who support you than those who don't. It's fun knowing I'm right!!
  • Miles from West Linn, OrI hate this song for it's overplayed-ness,but I love Weezer :3
  • Michael from Staten Island, NyTimmy from WA, I disagree. I think Weezer is a great band. I know we all have our opinions, but still...
  • Timmy from Mukilteo, Waweezer is pretty much a horrible band.
the first time i heard them, some kid was playing "buddy holly" through his ipod speaker at school. and i got mad at him because the song was so bad
  • Morgan from Hanover, MdWhat are these guys talking about, Weezer is awesome
  • Spencer from Terryville, Ctto daniel from Cincinnatti, this song is all about the talk box i am positive. I own a wah pedal and a talk box. There is a great difference in the sound and this solo is definitely the talk box.
  • Melanie from Albuquerque, NmTo be a one with the Weez you need to not take yourself seriously. Some of their songs are better than others but why should their personal evolution continuously reflect you. They can't anticipate and create for your needs only. Laugh a little
  • Joe from Bellingham, Wascuse me for what i said below, wezzer is in the top ten... WORST BANDS IN THE COUNTRY!
  • Joe from Bellingham, WaHands down weezer is in teh top ten
  • Daniel from Cincinnatti, OrIs the Guitar solo done with a wah peddel or a talk box. it sounds like a wah. but i know a guy who insists its a talkbox.
  • Aaron from Pittsburgh, PaThis is the OFFICIAL moment Weezer sold out . .and ultimately made it quite clear that they will never make another album like blue or pinkerton. I've had quite a hard time facing this since this is such a horrible age for music, and wezer was one of the few gems left. They went from being an original, ambitious band to being totally mediocre. The only songs on this cd that even grazed the tip of the iceberg on the first two releases were peace and hold me . .ok im done ranting
  • James from Toronto, Canadajust like that i prove you wrong dustin...Im a weezer fan :D
  • Dustin from Lincoln, Neweezer isn't all that good of a band. i dont think weezer fans even like weezer.
  • Becca from Hamilton, CanadaOne of the worst songs of all time
  • Spencer from Los Angeles, CaBesides hating Wheezer in general (don't hate me for voicing my opinion) I especially dislike this song because I don't like the instrumentals and vocals in general, plus I disagree with it. It makes Beverly Hills out to be some paradise, which it's not, mind you. I think people move there just to show that they have money...
  • Ec from Miami, Flweezer is one of the greatest bands alive.
and no, this song will never be hypocrytical no matter how famous they become.
  • Danielle from West Chester, OhI love weezer!!! I like the song even if its not there usual style! The music might be different but the lyrics are the same style! this song just goes to show that even though there rich an famous they still act like themselves money hasnt made them change! You gotta respect that.
  • Chris from Scranton, PaI couldn't disagree more with Manda from Mukilteo, Washington. With all due respect, Manda, Weezer is one of the most inspirational bands of the 90's if not ever. They truly did their own thing, and weren't inspired by hardly anyone. Rivers wrote all the lyrics to all the songs with several exceptions, and in doing so almost single-handedly inspired a revelution known as "Geek Chic," which made being nerdy cool, and helped start the current Preppy trend.
  • Chris from Scranton, PaThis song reached #2 on the Billboard charts, easily Weezer's biggest hit yet. It came at a price though, since the song is so pop-sounding and repetitive, which is why many mainstream MTV-watching idiots ate it up. It may be a huge hit, but it isn't Weezer's true style of music.
  • Sierra from Watertown, WiAnd hey.... Weezer is great. They are the only band i can think of that is age appropriate for everyone. I mean comeone, i cant even think of a dirty weezer song........................ lol. by the way, falling for you and across the sea are my theme songs!!!
    story of my life!!
  • Sierra from Watertown, WiWeezer is by far the best band ever. Although their new stuff is a little more poppy, it is still Weezer. So they took some different beats and made it their own, who gives? Atleast they are still makin music...where would we be without them?? exactly my point. And no, the chords in Beverly hills are NOT the same ones as undone.
  • Jaron Swartz from Mt. Laurel, NjIf you think beverly hills is a good song, you need soem sense knocked into you. In fact if you think beverly hills is a decent album, you also need some sense knocked into you. It's a fact that weezer created it's own genre of music when they first came on the scene. I also think that, however sad this may sound, weezer is the band that triggered the emo band craze. Terrible bands like simple plan, new found glory, and dashboard can all trace their roots back to weezer. However, I was never ashamed to identify with the band becasue of how truely influential they really are. In songs such as across the sea, el scorcho, falling for you..you really begin to realize jsut how much of a lyrical genius rivers' is. Make Beleive is the most dissapointing album of the year.Weezer is capable of so much more..but i doubt we will ever get to reminisce in new music that has the old weezer flavor.
  • Nick from San Francisco, Cathis is pretty much a terrible joan jett ripoff. the song "this is such a pity" manages to be the only half-decent song on the album by virtue of being a much better Cars ripoff. But Rivers' original songwriting voice has essentially disappeared.
  • Bobby from Newark, DeI hope weezer retires after this album. Beverly Hills is the same chord progression as Undone. Weezer has never been the same since genius musician matt sharp left the band. And while I am the biggest weezer fan I know and have seen them several times, I have come to the conclusion that Weezer has offered its soul up to the suits to make some retirement cash. Can't blame em' but I probably won't buy another album by them. ~keep music evil.
  • Carolyn from Roch Hills, Mii agree with lexie from sydney, Australia, it is really funny that everyone is comenting thins song, even though its not even thier best. And i hope that weezers next album sounds a little more like their old ones too. This song is ok, but their old stuff deffidently seems a little more weezer-ish.
  • Steve from Grand Rapids, MiContrary to popular belief, Weezer did NOT sell out in releasing this as a single. This is a typical weezer song about not fitting in (ironically it struck gold). It is true, that since the release of this, many people have just now jumped on the Weezer bandwagon and arent 'true' fans of the band and what they stand for. A poppy song as it may be, Rivers and the gang are still true to themselves.
  • Lexie from Sydney, Australiaweezer have been big since about 1994.. they arent a new band.
and its not hypocritical, doesnt mean Rivers all of a sudden fits in the BvH..
  • Kika from Nyc, Nyhm, considering that weezer's pretty darn big now, doesn't anyone think this is just a tad bit hypocritical?
  • Evan from Schererville, InThis song sounds like Weezer lyrically, but musically, it's just...not Weezer... Would be a good song by itself, but doesn't fit in with Weezer.
  • Lynn from Honolulu, HiCalvin, your not Rivers Cuomo.Don't take this comment personal.Besides,it's my personal opinion towards Rivers(he's cute). You must be a Baby Boomer if your a huge fan of Steve Miller. And no,I don't do drugs I'm a geek.I know this question is off the subject, but do you agree/disagree with Simon Cowell when he commented that nowadays America has poor taste in music?.
  • Lynn from Honolulu, HiI agree with bluejay fron New Jersey. To Steve Miller I've try to post this comment on your website couldn't think of a password. You should take Weezer as well as other artists to court for this and demand credit.First Shaggy sampled "The Joker" with his version of "Angel in the Morning", and now Weezer!.Oh my God! creativity has leave the building.Rivers, why did you do this?.What were you thinking?.I love geek rock, but please don't ever rip off old timers like this again!.Capeesh?.Forgive me Weezer.
  • Lexie from Sydney, Australiai find it rather funny that this is pretty much the only weezer song on this site that has lots of comments. i might take a stab and say thats cause this is the only song people have heard of of weezers - talk about 'real fans'.

Manda - what do you mean by "totally and completely inspired or written by them. they through in some of their experiences with their music and other people wrote it for them". Rivers has written all of their songs, with the exception of 'The world has turned and left me here' - Jason Cropper, Pat Wilson and Matt Sharp had input to that song and Wilson with 'My name is Jonas'

and since when did artists have to inspire themselves?
  • Manda from Mukilteo, Wahmm well lets sit and think here for a minute people.
how many of you are really true fans of weezer?
for those of you who KNOW weezer then you
know that most of their albums before werent
totally and completely inspired or written by them.
they through in some of their experiences with their music
and other people wrote it for them (not al of them, MOST though) and now after rivers has this falling out in his own life
and has real experiences to write about, no one likes it?
ive been a weezer fan for a long time, and ive known they didnt always do ALL their own work, but them as a band were pretty cool. im pretty satisfied with not only the album but the article too. they band is REAL now...so i guess you either like it or you dont.
  • Keith from Kyle, TxI'm a Weezer fan, but I'm not a fan of this song in comparison to some of the other songs on the album. And then when one compares this album to previous albums it's a joke. I mean, the feel-good music of the blue album, and the angst-ridden weird (in a good way) music of pinkerton, can never be outdone by Weezer's new(er) works. This song takes a nice jab at Beverly Hills (maybe it's more a song about tolerance, or the need to fit in), but what happened to the subtlety, the lyrics that meant something deeper, the power riffs/solos that just blew us all away? This isn't nearly as creative as Cuomo's/Weezer's earlier songs, and the music has evolved into something almost generic. Anyhow, with that said, I'm still a fan and I like this album, but it just doesn't compare.
  • Calvin from Kyle, Txwell i love this song i love weezer they are awesome. and i would just like to hit some of yalls bashes against the song. one i dont think this song is focusin on a mainstream anything it sounds great and if it was mainstream they would be whining about how horrible there life was and how you should cut your rists like every other "hit" band (emo). and to the girl that said the ripped off the steve mille rbands joker. were you high when you made this comparison. i am also a huge steve miller band fan and after readin that i listened to both and heard almost no comparison. and its also only plagarism if they copy everything. anyways im done with that weezer rocks this song rocks.
  • Cherie from Pensicola, Flpantomime......you got all wrong the grl say "can you give me" which means you know how all the celebrities have every thimg...so thats wat it say and the song rocks i love it. RIVERS IS SOOO SEXY!!!!!!
  • Bluejay from Kearny, NjThis song is plagiarized. At many obvious points in Beverly Hills, the guitarwork and the vocal melody are identical to the song "The Joker" by the Steve Miller Band but no credit has been given.
  • Matt from Boston, MaIve always loved weezer, since i heared buddy holly wjen i was 12, and i love this new song, too. and hese right about his fashion sense being a little whacked
  • Jb from Beaver, Pagreat song love the guitar solo if only i could do that
  • Pantomime from Chicago, IlOkay listen this song is ALRIGHT. It's a good song overall but it sounds like every other pop song on MTV or MUCH or on the radio nowadays. This is Weezer and after releasing The Blue Album, Pinkerton and The Green Album we all know that they can do a lot better than this. It sounds like Weezer is starting to try to appeal to a more mainstream audience (the girl's vocals in the chorus that say "be, be"...... like What is that anyway??) and i don't really understand that because Weezer already appealed to a fairly big audience and were already radio friendly.
  • Karyn from Canadai like the cd make believe
it had a whole different style to weezer
maladroit, IS hard to get into .. pinkerton is amazing .
  • Lexie from Sydney, Australiaoh no i meant each album name was one word rather than the songs, eg. weezer, pinkerton, weezer and maladroit. of course im not saying you know if it was one word it would be as good but there was like a.. format there, all these songs seem so different to the rest of their stuff but i admit im beggining to kind of like them - its weezer!
  • Scribble from Peaks Island, MeRivers Cuomo could live in Beverly Hills easily, but Rivers is an individual, and no, he wouldn't fit in one bit. The geeky nature of this band first started up in 1992 when Rivers met some other nerds in his area with some musical talent. On 94.3 WCYY (heavy rock alternative radio station), they refer to Weezer as "The Band That Made Nerds Cool". I love Weezer so much and songs like "Hash Pipe", "Smile", and "The Sweater Song" bring me back. Rock on, Rivers!
  • Elyssa from Goliad, TxDoesnt matter where he lives, wants to live, or belongs. This is just a song, and ive never liked Weezer much, ive always been more of a Slipknot/Marilyn Manson person, but this song actually isnt that bad...
  • Josh from Hehe, CanadaIn response to Matt, many bands have a sign. One example, 40 Licks from the Rolling Stones. I tihnk all genres of music is allowed to have signs. Because, seriously, who listens to rap? :D
  • Matt from Millbrae, CaI mean this songs good if you classify it as pop/rock. But I have to say that a band should not have their own "sign" (like the W figures in the Beverly Hills video). Leave that to rap.
  • Izzie from Lala, Hithis is my favorite song right now....its effin fantastic!!! i love this song and whoever disses weezer is pretty out of it.... they are great. i mean this song doesnt have some like amazing concept or fantastic message... but its soo cool and fun and fun to listen to and creative. beverly hills, thats where I want to be!
  • Jenni from Collins, Ohthey were not all one worded... buddy holly? pink triangle?
  • Martha from Boringville, Caok..so if they had named Make Believe some one worded title you think it would have been better? That has nothing to do with it. I enjoy Make Believe, they will probably put some of the 70 songs on some other cd or something.
  • Lexie from Sydney, Australiai bought that magazine.. it made rivers sound horrible eh? anyway, i reckon that make believe is their worst album.. i have the other 4 and this one just has no allure, at least the first 3 had somthing special, maladroit was beginning to go a bit blah but still had some good stuff but i just cant like any of the songs on make believe they are so.. generic! sorry i sound rather stuck up, BUT: what i think worked in the first three were just.. like the blue, pink and green albums, they all had 10 songs and they were all one word. not to mention the actual quality of songs. im always going to wonder what rivers other songs sounded like( in the RS article it said he had over 70 to chose from) ahh well now im rambling and going OT
