Songfacts®:

  • Teenagers A1OrFundz and J1Mulla first met on the social media app Houseparty in the summer of 2020. They recorded this track soon afterwards, during which they discuss their hopes for their future.

A1 is fixed on becoming rich; he doesn't want to settle down with a girl as he would lose focus from making money. J1 is not interested in keeping up with the "latest trends" because no one knows what tomorrow will bring.
  • A1 and J1 shared an early snippet of the song on Houseparty. It soon lived up to its title and began trending. After finding its way to TikTok, the tease ignited a frenzy on the video-sharing social media site too. By the time the pair released their tune as a single on February 4, 2021, there was enough interest for it to debut in the UK Top 20.
  • A1 interpolates A Boogie wit da Hoodie's 2020 track "DTB 4 Life" when he raps, "DTB for life, married to the money, my wife."
  • Shobeatz supplied the smooth guitar-based production. The beatmaker's other credits include FezGotIt's single "Wacky."
  • A1 x J1 dropped a remix featuring Manchester rap star Aitch on March 11, 2021. J1 told Official Charts the collaboration started when Aitch put on his Snapchat story "I want to see A1 x J1." Later, A1 and J1 were chilling in the studio when someone they didn't recognize turned up out of the blue. "I'm like, who the hell is this?" he recalled. "It's Aitch."
