  • In the title track of her debut EP, country singer Abbey Cone channels Miranda Lambert as a feisty ex-girlfriend who doesn't mind being bashed by her former flame because that means he's still thinking about her.

"'Hate Me' is ultimately about wanting to be remembered no matter how you're remembered," Cone explained in a Songfacts track by track. "I feel like it's kind of a product of me listening to Miranda Lambert's Crazy Ex-Girlfriend record as a child. It's one of my favorite songs to sing and I'm really proud that it's the title track of my EP."
  • Cone is a native of Argyle, Texas. She grew up singing traditional country music but was also influenced by contemporary artists like Shania Twain and Mariah Carey.
  • Cone co-produced the EP with Nathan Spicer, who also co-wrote most of the tracks. Before shifting his focus to songwriting and producing on tracks like Ryan Hurd's "To A T" and Jake Owen's "Senorita," Spicer toured as a guitarist for Mat Kearney and Katy Perry.
  • This was co-written by Jessie Jo Dillon, a prolific Nashville songwriter who co-wrote the hits "The Breath You Take" (George Strait), "Break Up In The End" (Cole Swindell), and "10,000 Hours" (Dan + Shay, feat. Justin Bieber). She also shows up in the credits for Cone's "The One."
