Songfacts®:

  • This melodic track finds AJ Tracey boasting about being a rock star lothario. He sings rather than raps his rhymes, which the Londoner references:

You couldn't play me if you wanted, I'm a rockstar
Just got a plaque for singing, mummy, I'm a popstar

Tracey explained that his mother asked him one day why he is always making "aggressive music." As what her mom said was "kinda true," the rapper decided to try new things, so he wrote this more laid-back track with a catchy hook. "I don't think I'm a singer, but it sounded all right," Tracey added.
  • The song was produced by two Americans:

Rex Kudo, who has also worked with the likes of Nicki Minaj ("Run & Hide") and Post Malone ("Go Flex").

Charlie Handsome, whose resumé includes two Khalid hit songs: the Texan singer's duet with Normani ("Love Lies") and his solo tune "Better."
  • The music video, helmed by Hamish Stephenson, was filmed in Atlanta's famous strip club, Magic City.
  • The track's subject matter is typical for Tracey, who tends to record songs with lyrics focusing largely on superficial subject matter such as cars, girls, and designer clothes. That frivolity is very much a conscious decision. He told Q magazine: "I don't want to be putting out music that makes people feel bad to accompany the news on TV, about Isis and Brexit and trump and racism. There has to be an escape or release and I feel like it's my job as an entertainer."
