Songfacts®:

  • The credited writers for this song are Johan Carlsson and Mick Greenberg, but the latter is the pen name of Harry Styles, whose group One Direction was huge at the time (2014). Harry told BBC Radio 1's Nick Grimshaw that Mick Greenberg was a name he used to check into hotels so he wouldn't be spotted.
  • It is rumored that Harry penned the song about his regret over the end of his romance with Taylor Swift. The tune includes the lyric, "I won't trouble you no more." Taylor's 2012 hit "I Knew You Were Trouble" was reportedly penned about the One Direction singer.
  • The song is part of Alex & Sierra's only album, It's About Us, released in 2014 the year after they won X Factor. They were signed to Columbia Records, as were One Direction, so it's likely the song was passed to them from someone at the label.

Alex and Sierra had a hand in writing most of their songs, including their most popular track, Little Do You Know, which was co-written by Sierra. They were a couple in real life but when they broke up in 2016 it marked the end of their musical partnership as well.
