Songfacts®:

  • In 2004, 20-year-old Amy Winehouse performed this self-penned track live on Friday Night With Jonathan Ross accompanying herself on the guitar. From the associated interview, the song appears to be about a former boyfriend. At that time, Winehouse was riding high on the success of her debut album, Frank, but seven years and only one album later, she would be dead.

This raw performance of "I Heard Love Is Blind" gave the British public and the world one of the earliest exposures to a talent that was ultimately wasted due to a fatal addiction to alcohol and other, harder drugs. >>>

  • Jennifer Shiels from LondonSong Interpretation: She persistently emphasises that it wasn't infidelity in the emotional sense. She almost presents her cheating as a credit to their relationship as it was and still is. The betrayal, although unforgiving wasn't out of spite. She was extremely vulnerable, and in her partner's absence sought the next best thing, as only him or in this case his mere resemblance could save her. The act itself didn't have any significance, she didn't give herself completely as she knew it wasn't really him, however the similarity between the two made his affection necessary. She regrets her actions but has become subconsciously aware that even ifgiven another chance, she would do the exact same thing again.
