Songfacts®:

  • Puerto Rican rapper Anuel AA first met the Colombian singer Karol G on August 23, 2018 on the set of the music video for their song "Culpables." They soon started dating, and sealed the deal when the loved-up couple documented their relationship in a homemade music video for their January 2019 collaboration, "Secreto." Soon after, they got engaged, but the couple called it quits in March 2021 after two years of dating.

During this trap-infused reggaeton track, Anuel AA asks Karol G a set of questions (the title translates as "23 Questions). It's clear he still has feelings for her and he wonders if she feels the same way and wants to give their romance another chance.
  • Anuel AA starts off this song by telling his ex-girlfriend:

I have 23 questions to ask you
Just let me know if you have time to respond to me

Throughout the song, the Puerto Rican artist tries to win Karol back.

'Tell me if it doesn't feel like the first time?
Instead of finishing, let's start again

He admits their romance was troubled and wants to know if he's not wasting her time.

So many fights that you want to erase me
Tell me if you don't want to listen to me?
  • Anuel's childhood friend, Rauw Alejandro, croons the outro, repeatedly crooning:

    Tell me if you're staying
Tell me, tell me if you're leaving
  • Anuel AA released "23 Preguntas" on August 23, 2021, the third anniversary of when the couple first met. "I really like this song, it means a lot to me!" the Puerto Rican artist said on his social media. "August 23rd is a date that signifies a lot to me."
  • The song features production by:

    Anuel AA's manager Frabian Eli.

Internet Money beatmaker Taz Taylor (Trevor Daniel's "Falling," Lil Tecca's "Ransom," Polo G's "No Return").

Jug, Census and Dizzycleanface also contributed to the production.
  • Anuel was clearly inspired by 50 Cent's similarly titled 2003 hit song "21 Questions." The rapper's classic tune actually contains 23 questions.

  • Monica from Greenville, ScAnuel needs to get over himself. Karol moved on and she is living her life with the man who loves her as much as she loves him. If he really loved her that much. Why did he break up with her in the first place? He downgraded to a rapper who can't even rap.
