Songfacts®:

  • The B-side on the vinyl release of "One For The Road," this is a sparse and sultry number that finds frontman Alex Turner attracted to a dark and mysterious girl. We learn that the young lady's Gothic tastes include macabre American horror fiction authors H.P. Lovecraft and Edgar Allan Poe. The latter's most famous poem, The Raven, tells the story of a mysterious talking raven who visits a lover that is going slowly insane. "You got your unkind of ravens," Turner sings here of the girl. "And your murder of crows."
