This song features a vocal contribution by Florence Welch. Explaining how their collaboration with the Florence + the Machine frontwoman came about, Paul Banks told NME: "Interpol was on tour last year and our final show was in Ireland. And as I got off stage, she approached me... and she was super-sweet and friendly. So we talked and exchanged information, and then I kind of circled back to her."
"Then we sent her the song and she reacted really well," he continued. "It was a great, very smooth kind of process, discussing with her the themes and the lyric [of the song]. And then she killed it once she got in the studio - she just f---ing killed it."
Florence Welch was on tour at the time, so she recorded her vocals in a different studio. Banks recalled to Billboard magazine: "That was very easy and a very effective kind of email communication. She sent me her lyrics and they were dope. I had tiny, tiny notes, she sang it and I had no f--king notes other than, 'Can you sing more, please?'"
