Songfacts®:

  • BC Jean is an American singer-songwriter and pop-rock singer. After writing and recording the first version of Beyoncé's mega hit "If I Were a Boy," the San Diego native was the subject of a signing frenzy. Jean eventually signed with J Records and released "Just a Guy" on September 14, 2010.
  • The song was produced by OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder. His other credits include Leona Lewis' "Bleeding Love" and Beyoncé's "Halo." Tedder said: "This is the first song I've ever produced that I didn't write in six years... That's how much I like this song. I have a good feeling about this one."
