Songfacts®:

  • This worship song encourages the believer that they have nothing to fear if they commit themselves to the Lord and stand in His love.
  • The song features lead vocals by worship leader Josh Baldwin. He penned the tune with Rita Springer and Mark Harris from Dallas' Gateway Church and Nashville-based songwriter Ethan Hulse.
  • Baldwin told NewReleaseToday that the track "came out of nowhere" for him. He had been staying with Rita Springer and Mark Harris in Dallas while they were writing songs for their Gateway album and he ended up staying and writing "Stand In Your Love" with them.

The track came about when Ethan Hulse, whom Baldwin had met for the first time earlier that day, popped in, to say goodbye just before he returned home to Nashville. He told them that he had this song idea and the chorus. Baldwin loved it and in the 45 minutes they had before Hulse had to leave the four worked on the tune together.

Baldwin brought the song home with him to Redding, California and worked on the bridge, in which he wanted "to talk about the power in the name of Jesus." The worship leader then led "Stand In Your Love" for the first time the following Sunday morning at church and sent a link to the finished song to the other three songwriters.
  • Baldwin recalled that when the four of them were writing the song they originally said "fear doesn't stand a chance in the face of Your love," but ended up with the message and play on words of "fear doesn't stand a chance when I stand in Your love." He explained:

"There is something about us standing firm on the promise of His love and being there. It's not even that we are doing anything. It's standing and being confident in who He is for us. That can remove fear in our lives."
