Songfacts®:

  • "Sound" is one of the most popular songs by Betty Moon, who grew up in Canada but relocated to Los Angeles to launch her music career. She told Songfacts about the song:

"At the heart of it, 'Sound' captures the emotional highs and lows of pushing through life's chaos by surrendering to music and movement. I know that may sound generic, but it's more meditative and now more than ever it's hard to live in the moment. The lyrics describe a person who's been on edge, performing a delicate dance through stress, heartbreak, and the repetitive cycles of personal struggle. Yet through this constant motion, they find liberation, not by escaping the pain, but by embracing the rhythm and allowing themselves to feel something real again. The repetition of having 'nothing to lose now' reinforces the sense of risk, urgency, and cathartic release.

At its core, 'Sound' is my anthem for the listener to let go and reconnect with that inner self through the visceral power of music. The chorus invites listeners to lose themselves in the rhythm and trust the transformative energy of sound. There's a surreal element in how the music lifts the listener out of their circumstances, blurring the lines between pain and ecstasy. It's a reminder that no matter what you've been through, music remains a force that can ground you, move you, and ultimately help you heal."
