Songfacts®:

  • This track finds Blake Shelton reflecting back on a relationship with bittersweet memories. The country star admitted this was influenced by his fellow coach on The Voice, Adam Levine. "It's not like anything else I've ever recorded before and I'll be totally honest — as hard as it is for me to say this — it's got a little Adam Levine influence in it," Shelton shared. "It's hard to admit. I hope he doesn't read this because he'd be like, 'Hahahahahahaha! I'm your hero!' But melodically it kind of reminds me of something he would do. It's obviously country, but when people hear the song, they'll understand what I'm talking about if they're familiar with his music."
  • The aching ballad was released as the fifth single from If I'm Honest. Blake Shelton took the stage at the 2017 People's Choice Awards on January 18, 2017 to perform the tune on TV for the first time. Shelton won the prizes for Favorite Male Country Artist and the all-genre Favorite Album at the ceremony.
