  • Can't Hardly Wait is a teen romantic comedy that came out in 1998, a year after the band's Dude Ranch album dropped. The single "Dammit" was featured in the movie in a scene where police show up to break up a house party.
  • Hoppus was the only member of blink-182 to attend college, briefly studying at California State University, San Marcos, in hopes of becoming an English teacher, but he dropped out to focus on the band.
  • Blink guitarist Tom DeLonge shared his thoughts on the song in a track-by-track commentary, saying: "That's a super romantic song. Mark wrote the song as though you are a boy leaving your girlfriend after years of school together. After high school, when you're leaving to go to college, and what do you say to this girl that you've been in love with for years, but now have to leave for years? I don't think it gets more romantic than that. It's a sad song and it's really moving. It's one of my favorite songs on the record, and the way the lyrics flow with the music, I just think it's a really sad, emotional song. It's something a lot of people go through. You probably date a girl in high school and grow up with her and learn so much about each other and have so many growing pains and have to leave to go to college. Do you stay with her, do you break up with her, do you have faith in the relationship...? I don't know. That's a cool thing to write a song about."
  • By the time the band released their third album, they were already headliners on the Van's Warped Tour and had a hit single, but they weren't expecting the level of superstardom Enema Of The State would bring them. But their record label, MCA, knew it would be a smash. Tom DeLonge recalled a surreal meeting where the label tried to prepare them for what was to come:

"The record guys sat us down and prepared us for three things. First, they said, 'You'll be more famous than you ever thought. Second, you'll have more money than you ever thought. And third, you're going to play more arenas then you ever thought.' I laughed at them. I said, 'That guy's on crack!'"
  • The album sold 5 million copies in the US (15 million worldwide) and landed in the Top 10 of the albums chart.
