Songfacts®:

  • This gospel-sounding song was recorded for Hymns, an album inspired by Bloc Party singer Kele Okereke's own take on spirituality. He told The Sun: "I wanted Only He Can Heal Me to sound like a hymn because I was obsessed with the Hebrew hymn Shalom Chaverim, which spirals and spirals like choral music does."

"It gave me the idea for that song and it was the first track that we wrote. It really signified the direction to take the music in and it's one of my favourites."
