Songfacts®:

  • In a March 2015 interview, Boggy Creek frontman Craig Wise said like all the other songs on the Back Into The Swamp album, "On The Outside" was inspired by "situations I've been in or were inspired by watching others in the bar."

This particular song came about because "...I saw a young couple come in and sit in a booth, and I thought that used to be me, and another song was born that took only five minutes."

It was written on a napkin that he still carries around with him today. >>
