Songfacts®:

  • "That's Who I Praise" is a vibrant worship anthem that exalts God's faithfulness and inspires believers to join in fervent praise. It is filled with biblical imagery and references to praise warriors of old.
  • Brandon Lake draws inspiration from the unwavering faith and acts of worship of biblical figures like David, Daniel, Mary, Paul and Silas. He encourages listeners to emulate their examples and wholeheartedly praise God, whatever the circumstance.
  • The song empowers listeners to offer praise even in life's fiercest trials, drawing inspiration from the biblical account of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Lake reminds us that just as God protected them from the fiery furnace, He is our steadfast protector in life's toughest challenges.
  • Brandon Lake wrote the song with Zac Lawson, Benjamin William Hastings, Steven Furtick and Micah Nichols.

Zac Lawson is a Rhode Island based songwriter and producer. He is the older brother of JVKE of "Golden Hour" fame; the siblings produce together as JAKE & ZAC.

Singer-songwriter Benjamin William Hastings is most known for his worship music with Hillsong United. He's co-written several of Lake's songs, including his 2020 single "Gratitude."

Steven Furtick is the founder and general overseer of Elevation Church, based in Charlotte, North Carolina. Lake and Furtick have collaborated on several songs together, including Elevation Worship's "Graves Into Gardens" Phil Wickham's "This Is Our God."

Micah Nichols produced "That's Who I Praise." He previously helped produce Lake's Coat Of Many Colors song "Palm of Your Hand" and co-wrote the album's closing track, "Country Psalm."
  • Instead of a traditional music video featuring the artist, Lake released one that showcases the power of community and shared worship. The visual is a compilation of clips capturing people singing and dancing to the song in their homes, cars, churches, and other settings.
  • The song reached #1 on Billboard's Hot Christian Songs chart dated October 19, 2024. It dethroned "Praise" by Elevation Worship, which features Lake, after a 31-week reign.
