  • Jake Lawson is a singer-songwriter and producer who records under the name of JVKE. The Rhode Island native began his career on TikTok in 2020 creating videos. He soon gained a large following and released his debut single, "Upside Down," which featured in over 12 million TikTok clips. JVKE's 2021 Galantis collaboration "Dandelion," reached the New Zealand top 40 and #19 on Billboard's Hot Dance/Electronic Songs. This love song became his first Hot 100 entry after it went viral on TikTok.
  • JVKE co-wrote and co-produced "Golden Hour" with his younger brother Zac Lawson. "I did my absolute best to embody beauty in every detail of the production," said JVKE. The pair work together as JAKE & ZAC when producing. Their resume includes "Euphoric" for Eric Bellinger's New Light record, which garnered a Grammy nomination for Best Progressive R&B Album.
  • "Golden Hour" is the third track of JVKE's debut album This Is What ____ Feels Like. The record tells the story of a romantic relationship and the aftermath following its collapse. "It is sectioned out into four pieces," JVKE explained on the Zach Sang Show. "Basically, it's sectioned out into the first three songs are all about falling in love. The first one, 'this is what falling in love feels like,' then two songs to really flesh that out. Then the next section 'this is what heartbreak feels like,' two songs to really dive in. Then we got two more pieces... 'this is what sadness feels like' and then those two songs and then 'this is what falling out of love feels like' and then the two songs after that."
  • The song garnered visibility in part because of a viral TikTok video where JVKE plays "Golden Hour" on the piano for his childhood piano teacher.
