This song is about being there for a loved one. Brandy explained to MTV News: "You can take it like you're talking about a mother and a daughter, a sister, brother, girlfriend, whatever - it's universal in that way."
After being mainly produced by Timbaland on her last album, Brandy returned to her long-term collaborator Rodney Jerkins on Human. This song was the first number that they did together after their musical reunification.
When this debuted in the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart in August 2008 it became Brandy's first chart entry since "Who Is She 2 U" peaked at #43 in September 2004.
Brandy told MTV News about the song's promo: "The video concept is me crossing over to the other side and coming back into my family's life. Just popping up everywhere, just singing to them, and it's [got] an I Am Legend feel. Sometimes you see me on the street by myself completely, and it's pretty cool."
Rodney Jerkins appears in the video, as does Brandy's brother Ray J.
The TV show Cheers was nearly canceled after its first season, but the theme song, "Where Everybody Knows Your Name," was very popular. To satisfy viewer demand, the theme was made into a full song and released as a single.
