Songfacts®:

  • This inspiring song was the first one that Carly Pearce penned with her producer busbee for Every Little Thing. She recalled to Billboard: "We had actually just met that day, and co-wrote it with Emily Shackleton, who wrote 'Every Little Thing' with us."

"I think the song is such a universal thing," Pearce added. "When you feel lost, confused, or defeated, you have to find that constant. Maybe that's within yourself, or finding that person who gets you, and can bring you back to center."
  • Emily Shackleton is one of Pearce's go-to songwriting partners. She grew up in a small Minnesota town with limited radio access, relying on her parents' eclectic record collection for musical inspiration, and her journey into country music began with the Dixie Chicks' Wide Open Spaces album. Despite later embracing songwriting as her passion, Emily initially dreamed of becoming a performing artist, with icons like Celine Dion shaping her aspirations before her discovery of Nashville's songwriting culture.
