This song features vocals by Conor Maynard. The English singer-songwriter is best known for his UK Top 5 singles "Can't Say No" and "Vegas Girl" and "R U Crazy."
Cash Cash said that working with Maynard was a "very natural collaboration:"
"He's one of those singers that can just throw it down the first time and make it sound finished," they explained. "We attached the production with a hyped energetic feel to give some contrast to the lyrics, and we're very pleased with the way they complimented each other. The emotion in his voice really brought out the concept of the song, and gave us chills when we first listened back."
Fall Out Boy's "The Kids Aren't Alright" song title is not a reference to The Offspring's 1998 single of the same name. It actually alludes to The Who's 1979 rockumentary film called The Kids Are Alright.
