Songfacts®:

  • "Let Go" is a breakup track where Central Cee expresses his feelings about an ex with whom he'd had a rare chemistry. She was the love of his life, and he can't erase her from his mind. So obsessed is the rapper with his former shorty, he's virtually stalking her. Cee has even offered to pay her to return.
  • The song samples Passenger's 2012 hit "Let Her Go." Passenger's romantic folk-pop tune is about the anguish he felt about a breakup until he let her go. Central Cee's uses rap's more explicit language to express his heartache about his lover going from his life.
  • "Let Go" is a fictional storyline. After posting a snippet on TikTok, Central Cee asked his girlfriend, Madeline Argy, for her opinion. She didn't like the word "hoes," so the rapper scratched the snippet and said he wouldn't release the song. After some days, Madeline changed her mind and posted a TikTok, singing along to the lyrics. Having garnered her approval, Central Cee dropped "Let Go" on December 15, 2022.
  • Nastylgia created the beat. The producer's other credits for Central Cee include "Obsessed With You" and "Retail Therapy."
  • Long-term collaborator Kunography shot the video pre-show at Alexandra Palace. Cee performed at the London venue on November 22, 2022, as part of his Still Loading world tour.
