  • Despite naming his Royalty album after his daughter, Brown doesn't spend much time in daddy mode, concentrating in the main on sex jams and other topics unsuitable for her ears. However, this heartfelt track is the exception, with Breezy talking about how his little girl inspires him in everything he does.
  • The little girl's mother is the singer's ex, former model Nia Guzman. In September 2015 the court granted Brown 50/50 custody with Royalty traveling between mommy and daddy every four days.

Wake me up before you go, ooh I need a little more
Just a little more, a little more of your love

The song's chorus is a direct reference to the court's ruling. Breezy loves Royalty so much he cherishes every second he spends with her until she leaves to see her mom.
  • The black-and-white portrait cover for Royalty featuring Brown cuddling his baby daughter in his arms was shot by photographer Francesco Carozzini.. "With the album, it's just showing my growth," Breezy said during an interview on Hot 97. "[Royalty]'s a main part of my life, so I named my album Royalty in retrospect of letting everybody see, Hey, this is what it is, this is the person I am, I'm a grown man, I'm responsible at the same time, and I love doing my music and love being a father. I integrated all of that together with what I'm dealing with as a 26-year-old man and living my life."
