Songfacts®:

  • This song by American pop singer Christina Aguilera is from the soundtrack to the film Burlesque. The singer co-stars in the movie in the role of a young Hollywood hopeful looking to impress a nightclub impresario played by Cher.
  • The song was written by Christina Aguilera, Samuel Dixon and Sia Furler and is one of three original songs that Aguilera contributed to the project. Director Steven Antin told Billboardmagazine: "I wrote synopses of what the songs should be about before anyone else came onboard. That's how I sold the movie." Once the project was greenlighted, Antin and music supervisor Buck Damon solicited songwriting submissions. Christina said to me, 'Can I try?' and I said, 'Sure, throw your hat in the ring. The best song wins.' She was down for it."
  • Australian singer-songwriter Sia Furler and Australian record producer Samuel Dixon also contributed several songs to Aguilera's 2010 album, Bionic, including the single "You Lost Me."
  • On the subject of connections, Antin's sister Robin founded the original Pussycat Dolls dance troupe, with whom Aguilera has performed.
