  • Abbey from Redwood City, CaThis song is about trying to connect with a casual party friend who's had a life changing event (seemingly cancer) and is now withdrawing from her social group and feeling the emptiness of her own future. The 'mask', as I interpret it, is the illusion she puts out that 'everything is OK'. If anything the song urges you to enjoy your own life here and now. Mike D is smoking rocks.

    At first, my interpretation was that it was about a chick named Sara who was embarrassed to be with a dude, but the dude really badly wants to be with Sara. "So take my hand I will walk you around in a mask" But then i realized that would only go with this lyric so I gave up and searched the meaning :P
