  • Clean Bandit teamed up again with Jess Glynne for this song. The London songstress previous sung on the Baroque-pop group's international hit "Rather Be," which topped the iTunes charts in over 25 countries worldwide. "It's weird, because after 'Rather Be,' I didn't think we'd do another song," Glynne told USA Today. "But I kind of started 'Real Love' and was going to have it for me, and it turned out we decided to do it as a joint single."

"I think with 'Rather Be,' it worked so well the way the music and the vocal and everything came together," she added, "and with 'Real Love,' it was the same thing."
  • The song was released as the lead single for the repackaged version of Clean Bandit's debut album titled New Eyes: Special Edition.
  • This song debuted at #2 on the UK singles chart behind Band Aid 30's "Do They Know It's Christmas?" on which Clean Bandit performed as well. The group duplicated the fate that befell George Michael back in December 1984 when his group Wham!'s "Last Christmas" was prevented from reaching the top spot by the original Band Aid recording - on which he also featured.
