Several of the songs that Colbie Caillat wrote for her Christmas In The Sand album concern the sort of tropical yuletide she spends in her home state of California. However, this co-write with Toby Gad recalls traditional, snowy Christmases at the singer's grandparents' home in Lake Tahoe. "I've experienced that typical kind of Christmas as well, so I wanted to write a little bit of both sides," Caillat told Billboard magazine.
