Songfacts®:

  • Dan Wilson, who has written songs with Adele ("Someone Like You"), Dixie Chicks ("Not Ready To Make Nice") and John Legend (You & I (Nobody in the World)), wrote this song with Chisel, who is a singer from Wisconsin. The song never found an audience, but it's one of Wilson's favorites; he included it on his 2017 set Re-Covered.
  • When they wrote this song, Wilson and Chisel spent a lot of time talking about Bob Dylan. When they needed a line, Wilson asked Chisel to channel his "inner Bob Dylan." The result was lines like this:

Well baby you love me like a bowling ball
Cause you roll me all night and I don't complain at all
