Songfacts®:

  • Here, Da Beatfreakz connects with British singer-songwriter RAYE, plus British rappers Russ Millions and wewantwraiths. The artists flex about their huge earnings and the luxuries they can afford. During the chorus, Raye talks about her "money calling" her to "spend it to believe it."
  • "Money Calling" originated with Da Beatfreakz looking for a classic pop tune they could sample and put their own stamp on. Once they hit on Rihanna's "Unfaithful" single, the sibling producers saw they needed a female singer to kick off the song. They immediately thought of Raye, who they'd previously worked with on the D-Block Europe track "Ferrari Horses."

"Ferrari Horses" was the first time Raye incorporated quick flows into her vocals, and Da Beatfreakz asked her to rap again on this song. "Beatfreakz and I were in a session, they played this beat and I loved the Rihanna sample," Raye recalled. "So I jumped on the mic and it all came together pretty quick."

Da Beatfreakz then recruited Russ Millions, as they wanted someone big in the drill world. For the last verse, they enlisted the masked Somali artist Wewantwraiths, whose breakout single "Chanaynay" garnered millions of views on his own channel.
  • The Da Beatfreakz brothers, Obi and Uche Ebele, dedicated the song to their father, who was a music journalist.
