  • Dan + Shay kick off "We Should Get Married" like a slow-burning love story, but don't let that fool you; these country crooners have a romantic scheme up their sleeves that's hotter than a prairie bonfire.

Yeah, I know that we just met
    So pardon my drunk confidence
And I know you don't know me yet
But my heart skipped ten steps ahead

Shay Mooney's voice, like a smooth shot of whiskey, slides over the ivories, setting a deceptive pace.

But hold your horses, folks! This isn't your mama's bridal ballad. Just when you're sipping the slow, the chorus barges in like a parade, and you're doused in a confetti shower of rhythm. Dan + Shay declare in a twangy two-step, spinning you into a romantic country dance:

We should get married, take it out to Vegas
Find a little chapel, hire us an Elvis
Pink limousine, longhorns on the hood
Drinkin' champagne out the sunroof, we could
  • So there you have it! Dan + Shay take you on a heartwarming rollercoaster that starts like a slow dance but transforms into a fiddle-heavy, boot-scooting invitation to say "I do." Over the years, the duo have stacked up accolades for their heartfelt ballads like "From the Ground Up" and "Speechless," but "We Should Get Married" isn't just a song; it's a party-ready country-style proposal.

"Everybody thinks we're just the ballad guys, the first dance guys, it's so frustrating," says Shay Mooney in the song's music video.

"We don't need a DJ to get the people out on the dance floor, we got songs for that," bandmate Dan Smyers responds.

"I think we should just go rogue and play the song," Mooney continues.
  • Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney wrote the song with their buddy Andy Albert – he was there the night that Dan and Shay first met. Their other collaborations include "Steal My Love" and "Bigger Houses."
  • In the director's chair, P. Tracy sets the scene, and guess who's breaking the rules? Dan + Shay! These guys aren't sticking to their usual dance-in-slow-motion routine. Nope, they're unleashing their wild side, and the wedding guests are in for a jaw-dropping surprise as they're whisked away from the formalities to a full-blown Las Vegas bash.
  • Mooney's voice fires off lyrics in rapid succession, matching the uptempo percussion. "It was great to be able to play around with that fast melody and fast phrasing and do something we haven't really done in our career," he told Billboard. "I was still learning the words when we were in the vocal booth [recording]. You could hear how much fun we had making the record. Now we just have to figure out how we're gonna pull it off live."

"We've been fortunate enough in our career to have songs used in weddings and first dances - which, if all else goes away, people will always be getting married, so it gives us a bit of job security," Smyers added with a laugh. "We've played weddings - whether it's a celebrity, non-celebrity - and after you play, there's a local band or DJ who cranks some 'Uptown Funk' or 'Twist And Shout,' and everyone's on the dance floor. I thought we should have a song everyone can start dancing to."
