  • This is the English title of a traditional Kikuyu female circumcision song; the title needs no further explanation!

    It was recorded by Daniel Kamau in 1985, which resulted in a stern warning from the Kenya Broadcasting Censorship Board because it was viewed as obscene and an embarrassment to the sanctity of womanhood (yes, the song, not the grotesque practice of female circumcision). The song was banned November 9 with the usual predictable result that it became extremely popular. >>>
