Songfacts®:

  • This tribute to New York City was written by David Crosby with his main Lighthouse collaborator, Michael League of the modern-jazz collective Snarky Puppy. It was League who came up with the song's concept of comparing New York to a woman. "Michael said, 'I want to write a song about New York City' - which we both love - 'as a woman,'" recalled Crosby. "And he said, 'Give me images.'"
