  • Written by Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen, "Miss You in a Heartbeat" was first recorded by a group called The Law, who included it on their 1991 self-titled album, their only release. Collen's friend Paul Rodgers was the lead singer in the group, which also included Kenney Jones and Pino Palladino.

    Def Leppard released the song as a single in 1993, and in January 1994 it reached #39 US (the song also charted in Canada and the Philippines). Also in 1994, the song was included on their album Retro Active.
  • In our interview with Phil Collen he said that his son Rory was the inspiration for this song. "When he was a little baby, that's when I wrote that about missing the family and all that stuff," Collen said.
