Songfacts®:

  • This was written by Goodrem together with Brian McFadden (Goodrem's boyfriend, formerly of Irish boy band Westlife, who had a solo UK #1 with "Real To Me"). The other co-writers were American country music songwriter Tommy Lee James and Scottish producer Stuart Crichton, who is best known for being part of the UK dance duo Narcotic Thrust (an anagram of Stuart Crichton) and for his production work with the Sugababes and Kylie Minogue. The producer of the song was John Shanks (Take That, Backstreet Boys, Bon Jovi, Ashlee Simpson).
  • This song about celebrating a new lease on life was penned after a difficult two years for Delta Goodrem, who had had to deal with a recovery from cancer, her parents' divorce and malicious reports in newspapers about her relationship with McFadden. In a Q&A on her website, Goodrem said this song is about "the journey you go on in this life and accepting what life throws at you and growing from the experience and concentrating on the positives in life."
  • The start of the chorus, "You give me love, you give me light" was taken from the phrase Delta Goodrem's uses to close her letters: "love & light."
  • This reached #1 on the Australian ARIA singles chart. It was Goodrem's eighth #1 single in her home country.
