  • In this country-rock number, Derek Hoke musters the courage to cut ties with a toxic lover who's dominated his every aspect of his life. "'Let Go Of My Heart' is probably the most direct song I've ever written about the end of a relationship," he explained. "There's not a lot of metaphor in there. It's about trying to get your strength back and move forward, tell the person what you really think - instead of romanticizing a bad relationship."
  • This is the second single from Hoke's Electric Mountain album, following "Wild And Free."
  • Hoke performed this live on the Songfacts podcast in 2022.
  • Hoke started writing the album prior to the pandemic and continued to tinker with the songs during lockdown. After social-distancing guidelines eased up, he and producer Dex Green started brainstorming musical guests who could add more dimension to the songs. This one features backing vocals from Nashville singer-songwriter Lillie Mae, who also plays the fiddle on the track. As a session musician, Mae also performed on Jack White's first three solo albums.
