Songfacts®:

  • Drake sings here of a girl with whom he had a relationship that was doomed to fail, as they used to spend much of their time together sleeping in and getting high. Dreezy has drawn a line in the sand and moved on, but now this girl is talking down his name. She's trying to make him feel bad about letting go of her in order to pursue his career.
  • The old-school hi-hat smashing beat was supplied by Kanye West and Jordan Ullman, the producer half of Drake's OVO signees Majid Jordan. Ullman brought a similar 1980s vibe to Drake's hit single "Hold On We're Going Home."
  • The song samples the drums from Malcolm McLaren's 1983 track "World's Famous." Pharrell Williams previously borrowed the same percussion for his 2006 single "Number One," which also featured Kanye West.
