Songfacts®:

  • Vics wrote this song about his relationship with his wife. With a fun, country/rock backbeat, it's a look at love and married life. Drew uses various metaphors (a lyrical approach inspired by Neil Peart, one of his main influences) to illustrate situations relative to love and relationships. >>

  • Joan from Boston, MaI think it's actually pretty nice that a guy can feel that way about his wife and express it. I don't find it pathetic at all. You can't base your assessment of someone's personal life on the lyrics of a song. It's actually a refreshing, fun song. People do make an impact and a difference in the lives of others. What's wrong with taking notice of that and pointing it out? Obviously his wife has made an impact on his life and he has no problem saying it. This is more like a pop-country style song. Doesn't really sound like Dire Straits to me.
