Songfacts®:

  • Eduard Adrian Ilie, better known as Edward Maya, is a Romanian musician, producer, performer and composer. This is his first single as a recording artist, which was released in the summer of 2009, reaching #2 in the Romanian singles charts. The song went on to become a Europe-wide smash hit, topping the charts in a number of countries, including France, Finland, The Netherlands, Spain and Sweden.
  • This features on vocals Romanian music producer, singer and DJ, Vika Jigulina.
  • The song is based heavily on an Azerbaijani accordion melody called "Bayatilar," by Eldar Mansurov. On the original single release Mansurov received no credit, instead it was indicated as "Anonymous." Maya commented that he had come across the accordion version of "Bayatilar" on the Internet earlier in 2009 and claimed he had tried to contact the author but failed due to his busy schedule. On January 19, 2010, Edward Maya signed an agreement with Eldar Mansurov affirming their co-authorship of "Stereo Love."
