  • Shortly after writing the Chief album, Church learned that he was going to become a father, with a baby boy due in October 2011. Said Church: "Ironically, the one song to me that has taken on a different meaning is the song I didn't write, which is 'Like Jesus Does.' I have always loved my wife. When you are having a kid, it's a totally different thing. That song's a lot about that. I have a ton of imperfections. I have always been open about that; I mean 'Sinners Like Me' was about that. She has always made me better than who I am and I think that now, in recording that song before finding out we were pregnant, and listening to it now, it's an even deeper meaning. So I am very glad, very glad that song is on the record, and was something we already decided to do before that because it made it that much sweeter."
  • This song was written by Casey Beathard and Monty Criswell. Beathard's credits include "The Boys of Fall" by Kenny Chesney and "The Breath You Take" by George Strait. Criswell co-wrote Strait's song "I Saw God Today."
  • While Church didn't pen this ballad, the singer said it reflects his relationship with his wife, Katherine. "True love is when you love a person in spite of all their fallibilities, and I have a lot of them," he explained. "I'm definitely at times hard to love, and that's what's great about Katherine and the way she loves me. She loves me in spite of those things and really for those things."
  • John Peets directed the song's black and white video, which features Church singing the song with just an acoustic guitar for accompaniment.
