Songfacts®:

  • The second single from Example's The Evolution Of Man album was penned by the singer/rapper with producer Alex Smith, whose other credits include Olly Murs' #1 hit "Heart Skips a Beat." The song was premiered at the iTunes Festival 2012 on September 17, 2012 and released in the UK on November 11, 2012.
  • Speaking with Digital Spy in September 2012, Example admitted he didn't originally write this song with himself in mind. He explained: "I was in a writing session about six months ago and I wrote 'Chasing The Sun' on the Monday - I didn't realise it would be for The Wanted at that time - and 'Close Enemies' on the Tuesday. I didn't know who it was going to be for. I was just writing big pop songs for whoever. I liked it so much, I just tweaked the lyrics to make it suit me, but originally I imagined it suiting someone like Rihanna."
